SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER - BIG JOBS AND SMALL.
(If you already know what you want to do, please go to page bottom for the Sign-up Form.) Most people are busy and hesitant to take on open-ended commitments without more information. Here you can not only find out more about each of the many things that need doing around here, but also indicate an interest in assisting on specific tasks.
Memberships can be had for assisting us with various tasks. For example, running sound three times (say, on 2nd Tuesdays) gets you a one-year free membership ($20 value). CD Ripper It's hard to get CDs mailed in for review to our widely scattered reviewers, so we created a system for ripping MP3s and scanning album artwork, then uploading it to our Dropbox account for reviewer access. We need someone to rip and scan at most a dozen submissions per month; each album takes an average of 10-15 minutes to process, depending on software. Calendar- / Venue-List Keeper Not much to do here once the full list is in place but police it every week or so to ensure no pranksters are having fun at our expense, and to update the list as required (approx. 1-2/month). Computer Support / Geek Services The website and associated IT services are a considerable time suck. We can keep at least two people busy, more would be nice. Fundraising Intern One of the President's jobs is to fund raise, something for which there has so far been precious little time. A helper would allow the Prez to spend more time on that. Membership Coordinator Maintain membership list and keep track of current and expired members. Merchandise Coordinator Collect and organize Victory Music merchandise, for sale online and at venues. Music Curator (History House project) History House in Fremont wants to create an exhibit of original, home-made Northwest music, featuring approximately two dozen Victory Music artists whose music will be featured online and at the (yet to be built) museum to replace the old location in Fremont. There are many person-hours of work here, to curate, select and organize music going back as far as the Forties. Music / Venue / Artist Reviewer If you enjoy listening to music and writing about it, this job is for you. We make it easy: No physical album to handle and pass on, just access an online directory with hi-def MP3s and artwork, then upload your review. Open Mic Emcee Cover dead air between performers at our open mics, make announcements, keep the show rolling. Requires training. Open Mic Host Greet attendees, collect money, tear down at show's end. Requires training. Open Mic Sound Technician Runs the sound board and sets up the stage. Requires training. Promo / Media Contact Contact local TV, radio and print media on an ongoing basis to promote Victory Music events. Special Events / Ad Hoc Helper Warm, friendly bodies to do whatever needs doing. Street Team Member Distribute posters and flyers in your neighborhood. Victory e-Mag Editor Run a magazine. The Board of Directors is currently weighing whether to resume this as a (moderately) paid position. Victory e-Mag Layout Artist Experienced artist needed. The Board of Directors is currently weighing whether to resume this as a (moderately) paid position. Victory e-Mag Writer Write about music w/lots of freedom to express yourself. Great resume entry for interns! Website Editor A techie would be really useful here, the Prez can't do it all. Website Editor's Assistant Help write articles and test the site. |
